Bongo’s Finest Alikiba in Nairobi for his Coke Studio Africa debut
The bongo star is in Kenya for his Coke Studio debut Photo: Coke Studio Alikiba - the celebrated multi-award winning Bongo musician arrives in Nairobi, Kenya – to film the new season of Coke Studio Africa. The “Mwana” singer joins a stellar cast of artistes from Africa whose performances and collaborations have made a mark on the local and international music scene, in season 3 of Africa's biggest music show. Alikiba recently won six awards at 2015 Kilimanjaro Awards for the song “Mwana”. Alikiba will be paired with one of Africa’s fastest rising divas and a household name both in Kenya and Nigeria. The two will work on mash-up collaborations produced by Owuor Arunga. Owuor is a Grammy-award winning musician and trumpeter, best known for his collaborations and affiliation to American rapper Macklemore. Alikiba's latest video release for the hit song “Chekecha Cheketua” is currently enjoying massive airplay on TRACE, soon after an exclusive premiere at the beginning of this week. This year Coke Studio Africa has once again drawn the hottest music talent from Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Nigeria and Uganda. He will join East Africa's top shots like Maurice Kirya, Avril, Juliana Kanyamozi and Fid Q in the new season of the show. For a first-timer on Coke Studio Africa, Alikiba promises his fans to bring his A-Game on. He says, "It's an amazing feeling to be part of Coke Studio Africa. This is the place where I can show my fans that I can do better. They will also see how my chemistry with another artiste in the music industry can be good!" Expect to hear his hits like “Chekecha Cheketua” re-done afresh in the show’s new format – mash-up style of music.
